Serving Our Saints, Inc. - Who We Are

In 1988, we packed our two children and what was left of our furniture and moved from our home and business in Virginia to Hixson, Tennessee. For the next three years we would share a home with 8 adolescent boys orphaned by crime, an assistant couple and our two children. If you are keeping up, that's 14 people. All ministry work presents challenges to your personal and family life. Space and time away become a critical and vital issue. With the small stipend we earned, time away needed to be very affordable or free. We took advantage of any offered time in church camps or vacation homes. Any place we could get away and rest. After leaving the children's home God gave us a burden to establish a respite program for Christian workers and pastors. Over the next couple of decades life happened and we continued to pray to see where God would lead us.

In 2007 we began to look, pray and plan in earnest for some type of commercial venue that would also support a respite ministry. In 2007 we formed a 501(c)3 corporation called "Serving Our Saints, Inc." (SOS, Inc.). In 2008 God answered our prayers and allowed us to find and purchase Canna Country Inn. This was a God placement for sure, we were not smart enough to have picked such a perfect location. Far enough in the country to still hear the cattle bellow at feeding time, yet just one mile from Interstate 83. Just minutes from Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, Gettysburg, and York, Pennsylvania. Canna Country Inn is a beautiful 1850 restored barn, being used as a bed and breakfast. There was a tremendous amount of work to be done.

The first year we had to learn the business and get the Inn back in good shape after years of neglect. Part of the property included a small cottage for the inkeepers which allowed for full Inn rentals. The first year we have seen many happy family reunions, small weddings, and church retreats. Working SOS, Inc. only by word of mouth and God appointments we have served pastors, missionaries, and churches with their respite needs. We are looking forward to many great things with the launch of a web site and a renewed marketing effort for SOS, Inc. God has blessed us greatly and we hope to serve Him well through SOS, Inc. and Canna Country Inn.
